Augustine Nikolay Marchand leads the Interrogation Department.
He was not born in Janlea, and 'immigrated' here like many others. He traveled from the polluted city of Marsing, wishing to get out of the filth-imbued streets before it killed him--exaggeration of course. Before Augustine began the move, he worked as a bartender in a well-known pub in the city. His pay was decent, but not enough to make the type of living he was content with at the time. He picked up a job in the police force during his daylight hours, and then shifted to bar tending at night; not the most typical pairing of jobs, that's for sure. Augustine, himself, drinks lightly and can't stand drunken fools. When people began to get rowdy inside the bar during his shift, he has no tolerance and will give them one warning note, mentally in his head that is, before kicking them out the second time. It's not much of a fair chance for the other people, but he doesn't enjoy butting heads with others and would like to see them take responsibility for themselves or for the people around them to ask them to settle down. As well as people watching during his night shift, he did the same as he was patrolling the streets as a cop during the day time; glancing to the group of people on the corner muttering quietly, taking in simple details about them; then the elderly man leaned against the wall next to a food stand at the end of a block. It's not that he's constantly sizing people up by their behavior and examining them with questioning; but it's that he is disgusted by people. He's often offended by their actions to the people and environment around them, turned away by their foolish acts. He's displeased by the way people present themselves to the public, embarrassing themselves in front of the public eye. Augustine went on about this way throughout the years he spent in the crowded city. After three years in the police force, he moved into the detective work. He took a liking to his new position; however, it seemed to come too easily to him. It began with the questioning. Anytime he was sent to question witnesses, they would shift suddenly. They went from a defensive stand; giving little information and behaving like a stubborn child, to immediately submitting and giving away all they know as if completely defeated and they couldn't avoid the subject any longer. Not only was it during investigation and interrogation that he noticed the shift, but also during the few runaways. Only a minute into the chase, and they completely stop, shouting they are done and give in to submission. This bothered Augustine. He didn't enjoy seeing others give in so easily to something that they struggled to achieve 'just like that.' It was humiliating and unbecoming of a person, no matter whether good or bad intentions. Augustine began to fall back towards his job as a bartender, and focused less on his detective work. He returned to his observation of people within the bar from afar while filling shots and shaking pricey cocktails.
Augustine's decision to travel miles to Janlea came to him so suddenly one hectic morning. He awoke to a call by the station about several missing citizens, mostly between the ages of fifteen to early twenties. There were a total of fifteen missing individuals. As he rushed out the front steps, still pulling on his jacket, tie held by his teeth, and eyes baggy from lack of sleep, he stepped on something that caught his attention briefly. He looked down as he began to knot his tie, to find the newspaper beneath his foot. It wasn't often he got the papers due to the lack of news cast in the city. He climbed into his car with the paper, reading the front headline- 'City of new opportunities and advancements...' It caught his interest, but he set it aside as he headed to the station for the report.
Fifteen missing individuals. Each from the same district and having some sort of connection to one another. It was an uncommon case for the station, and Augustine didn't seem to show much involvement in the case. It was simple. He had it figured out by the end of the day. They had left Marsing for this 'city of opportunities,' and he didn't blame them. He understood their intentions. It was difficult to leave the city with permission because it seemed law enforcement wished for the people to remain in the city at all times. It was dangerous outside of the city's limits; living inside the city wasn't much safer though. That night at the bar as he wiped the glasses clean, he made his decision. He would leave that week.
Getting past the security on the outer walls wasn't as hard as it seemed to him at first. He was able to get past most of them with his badge, and having to talk his way through others. It was outside the city where the real trouble began. Recalling what it was like outside the city is something Augustine is not willing to disclose to the common rabble.
Augustine was first introduced to the KC while at work. The job he chose was bar tending once again. He had been in the city for nearly a year and was at last being informed about these new 'opportunities.' He wasn't all that interested in the offer he was given, as he didn't come to Janlea with intentions of finding the opportunities; although, it was a curiosity that pushed him towards the city as it did many others. It took direct contact with the head of the KC for them to get his full attention.
Their first confrontation seemed to be Kronus testing the waters, and then circling Augustine before understanding just what he was all about and his capabilities. He almost seemed to step back, seeming unhappy with his find rather than eager for a new member of his army. He seemed hesitant about accepting Augustine into the KC, watching him before he decided what he should do about him. After two months of joining the KC, he was raised to the ranking of a Great Hound. It wasn't as much as a 'raise' as it was of a placement, seeing that he was never given a real position to begin with. He was labeled a member, but not given a real role.
Augustine and Kronus's relationship seems to be tense and intimidating to others who see them around each other. It seems that Kronus is always staring him down, trying to figure out what to do. It's almost as if Kronus does not want him here, and Augustine notices his behavior and discontent when around him, and takes it upon himself to keep a distance from him whenever he can. His involvement with the KC is minimal, but only because he isn't sure what Kronus wants him to do. He is set in the interrogation department of the KC and on rare occasions sent on personal investigations as well.
Augustine doesn't try to explain things to others in an understandable way, and is inadvertently apathetic. He doesn't use or understand emotion when making decisions, and can seem rather dry. Despite this, he is very truthful and doesn't have much to hide or lie about. This doesn't make him honest about everything; he will stray from the truth without lying if he does not wish to answer something.
He doesn't like the idea of being a leader or controlling others, which makes people question why he is a Great Hound, seeing that the Great Hounds are the ones to lead the Dogs in their department. He is very independent, but isn't anti-social. He will start conversations when in a good mood, and is very flexible with his time and schedule- if it doesn't cut down on his shift at the bar.
Augustine has straight blonde hair and an olive skin tone. He has piercings in his ears- simple silver studs. He wears an eye patch over his right eye, but hasn't always had it. It was after he left Marsing that he chose to wear it. The reason for wearing it is something he does not answer. He is very lean, and stands at 6'1. He picked up smoking after entering Janlea as a stress reliever. It's not something he does too often, and he refuses to give in to it as a habit.

Arrigo

Arrigo Alagona Abelli leads the File and Report Department as the secretary of the KC. Although Arrigo is not gifted with a crux, he is still seen as a valuable player in the organization. He uses his wits and cunning edge to his advantage in situations, and in turn usually gets the lead. He has possibly one of the most colorful array of vocabulary as people claim, and holding a casual conversation with him can prove to be rather difficult if you cannot connect or relate to what he is saying.
